Summary:Based on U.S . government and industry research, this article from the National A ssociation of Home Builders (NAHB) identifies some of the dramatic developments that are re-shaping the home-building industry in the United States as the 21st century draws near. It explores their implications for home design and construction and suggests ways in which innovative builders can continue to operate profitably in a constrained business environment. Since home-building industry trends in the United States often foreshadow those in other parts of the world, we think builders elsewhere will find it of interest.
