Malaxis ramirezii se propone como especie nueva para la ciencia y se compara con M. martinezii R. González, de la que se distingue por sus sépalos laterales oblongo elípticos (no suborbicular ovados), sus pétalos agudos (no obtusos, truncados o emarginados) y los lóbulos laterales del labelo más desarrollados, uncinados (no reducidos a un pequeño apículo deltoide), entre otras diferencias.
