Descripció
Sumari:Four benthic algae samples were taken in 3 localities in the Mazatlan shore. Results show the presence of 124 species of benthic marine algae. Seven species of Cyanophyceae, 72 species of Rhodophyceae, 12 species of Phaeophyceae, 7 species of Bacillariophyceae and 26 species of Chlorophyceae were identified. Each species includes data on its distribution, reproductive stage, tidal level, mode, facies and epiphytism. Species diversity was compared for two different climatic seasons, the rainy and the dry, during 1971, 1983, 1987 and 1988. The Rhodophyceae are dominant in terms of diversity in relation to the other classes. The algal flora of Mazatlan is tropical and the greatest diversity was found in the rainy season.
