Résumé:The diatom A. cleveanus is recorded from waters of Baja California: it was encountered in net samples of that area. This species is described from light microscopy observations. Its morphology is very similar to that of A. flabellatus, but the main differences between the two species are pointed out. The distribution of A. cleveanus is discussed, and it is considerad to  be a tropical and subtropical, neritic and littoral, not frequent  species.
