Se propone como especie nueva para la ciencia, describe e ilustra a Oxalis morelosii, a partir de plantas originarias del sur del municipio de Morelia, Michoacán, zona de donde la especie es microendémica. El nuevo taxon pertenece a la sección Ionoxalis, se asemeja a O. alpina (Rose) Knuth, O. galeottii Turcz., O. gregaria (Rose) Knuth, O. jacquiniana H.B.K. y O. lunulata Zucc., por llevar la lámina foliar 3-foliolada y por la presencia de 3 nervaduras en las escamas del bulbo. Finalmente se presenta una clave dicotómica que ayuda a separar al nuevo taxon de los señalados.
