Within this group it is related to A. dasylirioides Jacobi & Bouché, A. petrophila García-Mendoza & E. Martínez and A. rzedowskiana P. Carrillo, Vega & R. Delgad. The species is found on limestone rocky outcrops in oak-pine wood or montane rain forest.
