| description | Background and Aims: With only a few explorations since the 19th century and isolated plant vouchers, the Cañón del Río Blanco National Park has been little explored from the floristic point of view; however, new records for the flora of the state of Veracruz, Mexico, have been documented in the polygonal covered by this Natural Protected Area. The aim of this study is to present the novelties that this site contributes to this flora.Methods: Botanical expeditions were carried out in two different periods: the first between 2012 and 2014 and the second in 2016. Specimens were collected and photographed, and taxonomic determination with specialized literature was executed. Finally, the specimens were deposited in the Mexican herbaria CORU, MEXU and XAL.Key results: Manfreda verhoekiae (Asparagaceae), Cypripedium molle (Orchidaceae), Goodyera brachyceras (Orchidaceae), Krameria pauciflora (Krameriaceae) and Crusea psyllioides (Rubiaceae) are reported as new records for the flora of Veracruz, whereas Dioscorea orizabensis (Dioscoreaceae) and Nectouxia formosa (Solanaceae) are rediscoveries for the same flora.Conclusions: The theory regarding floristic affinity of vegetation of this semiarid region of Veracruz with the flora of the Tehuacán-Cuicatlán Valley is reinforced. It is suggested to continue botanical explorations within this Natural Protected Area. |

Antecedentes y Objetivos: Con algunas pocas exploraciones desde el siglo XIX y colectas aisladas, el Parque Nacional Cañón del Río Blanco ha sido poco estudiado desde el punto de vista florístico; sin embargo, se han documentado nuevos registros para la flora del estado de Veracruz, México, en la poligonal abarcada por esta Área Natural Protegida. El objetivo de este estudio fue dar a conocer las novedades que este sitio aporta para dicha flora.Métodos: Se llevaron a cabo exploraciones botánicas en dos periodos diferentes: el primero entre 2012 y 2014 y el segundo en 2016. Se hicieron colectas botánicas y los especímenes fueron fotografiados en su hábitat para posteriormente ser determinados taxonómicamente con ayuda de literatura especializada. Finalmente, los especímenes fueron depositados en los herbarios nacionales CORU, MEXU y XAL.Resultados clave: Se reporta Manfreda verhoekiae (Asparagaceae), Cypripedium molle (Orchidaceae), Goodyera brachyceras (Orchidaceae), Krameria pauciflora (Krameriaceae) y Crusea psyllioides (Rubiaceae) como nuevos registros para la flora de Veracruz, mientras que Dioscorea orizabensis (Dioscoreaceae) y Nectouxia formosa (Solanaceae) se presentan como redescubrimientos para la misma flora.Conclusiones: Se refuerza la teoría sobre la afinidad florística de la vegetación de esta región semiárida veracruzana con la flora del Valle de Tehuacán-Cuicatlán. Se sugiere continuar con la exploración botánica dentro de esta Área Natural Protegida.
