Dendrometric magnitudes of trees were measured diameter, shaft height and total height; 5-cm thick slices were extracted at 1meter intervals, from 0.30 cm up to the first ramification. A complete tree ring analysis, measured along four radial directions (N,E,S,W), was carried out. From stem analysis, it was observed that diameter has a growth increment of 0.6 cm per year at 59 years with a 29 cm DBH. The total height was of 7.7 m. at that age. The volume of shaft was 110.995 dm3 while form coefficient had not a defined tendency. |

En este trabajo se estima el crecimiento del itín, Prosopis kuntzei Harms (Mimosaceae), especie leñosa perteneciente al estrato arbóreo de la Región Chaqueña. Prosopis kuntzei es una importante Mimosaceae por las propiedades tecnológicas del leño. Se estudiaron individuos adultos de la especie de las localidades de Sachayoj (Dto. Alberdi), Brea Pozo (Dto. San Martín) y Suncho Corral (Dto. Juan Felipe Ibarra), de la Provincia de Santiago del Estero, Argentina. A los árboles muestra se les midió el diámetro normal (Dn), altura de fuste, altura total y radios de copa (para determinar la superficie de la misma), y posteriormente se les derribó para obtener muestras transversales (rodajas) de aproximadamente 5 cm de espesor a las alturas de 0.30 m, 1.30 m y a partir de allí, a cada metro hasta encontrar la primera ramificación. En las rodajas, previa preparación, se demarcaron los anillos de crecimiento en cuatro radios (N, E, S y O) para determinar su espesor y realizar el análisis epidométrico completo del fuste. Del análisis epidométrico del fuste se observó que el diámetro tuvo un crecimiento medio de 0.6 cm por año hasta los 59 años, siendo de 29 cm el valor del Dn a esa edad. La altura total alcanzada a esa edad fue de 7.7 m, el volumen del fuste de 110.955 dm3 y la variación del coeficiente mórfico no tuvo una tendencia definida.
