The taxonomy of Aristida for this area is revised where the genus is represented by 12 species and in total 23 infrageneric taxa. The morphological diversity of the genus in northeastern México is attested to by the disposition of its species in five informal groups, by the division of several of the species into varieties or forms, and by the occurrence of single- and three-awned populations and contracted- and spreading- panicle populations within the same species or group. Identification keys, selected synonymy, distribution maps and collection records are provided. |

El género Aristida está constituido por aproximadamente 330 especies, se encuentra en las regiones tropicales y subtropicales del mundo. Para México se distinguen cerca de 50 especies, principalmente en las zonas áridas, semiáridas y subtropicales. El noreste de México, que incluye los estados de Coahuila, Nuevo León y Tamaulipas, se considera como centro de diversificación de especies de las zonas áridas y semiáridas del país. Se revisa la taxonomía de Aristida para esta área y como resultado se define que el género está representado por 12 especies y un total de 23 taxa infragénericos. La diversidad morfológica del género en el noreste se refleja en la disposición de sus componentes en cinco grupos informales, en la división de varias de sus especies en variedades o formas, en la presencia de poblaciones con una o tres aristas y poblaciones con la panícula contraída o abierta, dentro de la misma especie o grupo. Se presentan claves para los taxa reconocidos, así como sus descripciones, registros de colecta y mapas de distribución.
