Se describe e ilustra Tigridia potosina, nueva especie descubierta en la Sierra de Álvarez, San Luis Potosí, México, que pertenece al subgénero Hydrotaenia y es morfológicamente similar a Tigridia multiflora (Herb.) Ravenna, aunque difiere de ella en el tamaño y color de los tépalos, así como en la amplitud de la taza floral. La nueva especie puede confundirse, por el color de sus flores, con T. alpestris Molseed ssp. obtusa Molseed, pero se distingue de ésta por la forma de los tépalos y por las ramas del estilo más largas.
