En el presente trabajo se determinaron los efectos de los tratamientos pregerminativos de hidratación - deshidratación sobre la capacidad germinativa de semillas frescas y almacenadas de Cucumis sativus L. Se utilizaron semillas de dos variedades de pepino (Hatuey-1 y Japonés) cosechadas en Cuba, y se aplicaron siete tratamientos de hidratación parcial con diferentes sustancias. En ambas variedades el acondicionamiento con agua por medio de un ciclo de hidratación - deshidratación resultó ser el procedimiento más efectivo para eliminar dormancia o incrementar el porcentaje de germinación final en semillas frescas de pepino, pero no en las almacenadas.
