Most of the taxa have their distribution limited to México, followed by those distributed in North America and those limited to the Chihuahuan Desert region. Este trabajo fue desarrollado con el objetivo de establecer los patrones de distribución de las asteráceas del estado de Coahuila a través de un estudio corológico. Para tal efecto se elaboró una lista de especies y se determinó su distribución. La familia Asteraceae está dominada en Coahuila por especies de la tribu Heliantheae seguidas por las de las Astereae y Eupatorieae. El elemento regional es el componente más importante. Cerca de la mitad restringe sus áreas a México, les siguen en cuantía las de distribución en Norteamérica y las limitadas al Desierto Chihuahuense. Las asteráceas endémicas al territorio del estado forman 12 % del total, localizándose en su mayoría en las sierras, valles y lagunas del estado.
