Se describe una nueva especie de Solanum, S. guamuchilense Castillo-Campos, una liana leñosa, descubierta en la selva mediana subperennifolia de El Guamúchil, Sierra de Vallejo, del municipio Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit. Esta especie se encuentra relacionada con Solanum molinarum J.L. Gentry, S. refractum Hook. & Arn., S. wendlandii Hook. f. y S. cobanense J.L. Gentry, pero se distingue de éstas por presentar hojas enteras a lobadas, además de inflorescencias y diámetros del fruto más grandes.
