620 species of stili extant native flora are evidently scarce or rare in the area, and consequently their permanence is endangered. Of these, 153 are so vulnerable, that their survival in next 50 years is not probable, if the present trend of modification of the environment is maintained.161 species introduced from overseas were found growing as wild plants in the Valley of México in recent decades. !t can be estimated that approximately 50 additional species thriving as weeds are also adventitious, although these plants are native of other parts of México and/or Mesoamerica. Finally, the existence of elements is reported, which do not behave as weeds and certainly are not escapes from cultivation, but immigrated from neighboring areas, due to modifications caused by human activities. Lists are provided for all discussed groups of species. |

De acuerdo con lo registrado en un inventario recientemente terminado, 68 especies de fanerógamas silvestres, que en el siglo pasado o en la primera mitad del actual formaban parte de la flora nativa del Valle de México, al parecer ya no existen en la región. Cinco de ellas, a mencionar: Acourtia matudae, Andropogon schaffneri, Cirsium lomatolepis, Lactuca brachyrrhyncha y Rubus cymosus, no se conocen de fuera de los límites del Valle, por lo que pueden haberse extinguido por completo. 620 especies de la flora nativa aún existente son plantas francamente escasas en la comarca, por lo que su permanencia se halla amenazada. De éstas, 153 se encuentran tan vulnerables que, de continuar la actual tendencia modificadora del ambiente, es poco probable su sobrevivencia en los próximos 50 años.Un contingente de 161 especies introducidas de ultramar se han registrado como silvestres en la región en las últimas décadas. Además se estima que unas 50 más, que se comportan como malezas, también son adventicias, aunque se trata de plantas originarias de México y/o de Mesoamérica. Finalmente se asienta la existencia de elementos que, sin ser malezas ni plantas escapadas de cultivo, ingresaron de áreas vecinas, gracias a alteraciones ocasionadas por el hombre.Se presentan listas de cada uno de los conjuntos discutidos.
