La flora vascular de la región de Huehuetoca está formada por 579 especies de 83 familias y 327 géneros. El área en cuestión, de aproximadamente 100 km2, está localizada sobre el Eje Neovolcánico, en el límite noroeste del Valle de México (Estados de Hidalgo y México), y caracterizada por la presencia de pastizal, matorral xerófilo y matorral de Quercus sobre una planicie lacustre (2250 m) y con elevaciones hasta de 2650 m. Tres especies resultaron ser nuevas para la ciencia (Asclepias nummularioides, A. rzedowskii, Bacchars erosoricola) y 19 son nuevos registros para el Valle de México.
