This phenomenon coincided with differences of precipitation and temperature in relation to the 11 years average of the nearest climatological station (El Peaje). The course of precipitation and temperature for 1986 resembled the average and hence can be considered as more representative for the area; in that year the initiation of cone primordia ranged from middle August to late September (or early October). Annual fluctuation of precipitation and temperature may cause changes in the period of differentiation of cone primordia. |

Se estudiaron las yemas terminales de invierno en Pinus cembroides de las Serranías Meridionales de San Luis Potosí, durante 1985 y 1986, a fin de establecer las fechas de iniciación de primordios de conos femeninos. En 1985, la iniciación fue aproximadamente un mes más tardía que en 1986, lo cual coincidió con el aumento de la precipitación y la disminución de la temperatura en ese año con respecto al promedio de 11 años, de la estación climatológica más cercana al área de estudios (El Peaje). La marcha de la precipitación y la temperatura de 1986 se asemejó más al promedio y por consiguiente se interpreta como la situación más representativa para el área. En 1986 el período de iniciación de primordios de cono en P. cembroides duró de mediados de agosto a fines de septiembre (o principios de octubre). Las fluctuaciones en el comportamiento anual de la precipitación y la temperatura puede provocar cambios en el período de diferenciación de conos.
