Se describe Diospyros xolocotzii sp. n., planta arbórea de frutos comestibles, al menos superficialmente similiar a D. palmeri Eastw., del NE de México, y a D. bumelioides Standl., dada a conocer de Belice. Solo pudieron contarse 20 individuos en la localidad tipo, que se encuentra intensamente perturbada, por lo cual parece ser grande su peligro de extinción.
