Para estas tres especies mexicanas se propone el nuevo género Neotrichonotulus con Aphodius inurbanuscomo especie tipo. El nuevo género se distingue fácilmente de Trichonotulus por tener la base del pronoto sinreborde y la cabeza glabra.
