Records of 8 subfamilies, 14 tribes and 49 species of the genera Phyllophaga, Diplotaxis, Anómala, Ligyrus, Golofa, Strategus, Xyloryctes, Euphoria, Canthon, Sisyphus, Phanaeus, Coprophanaeus, Dichotomius, Onthophagus, Euoniticellus, Ochodaeus, Aphodius, Ataenius and Trox are included. Specific diverslty is concentrated in the genera Phyllophaga (12 spp.) and Diplotaxis (9 spp.). Phyllophaga ravida (Blanch.) was the most abundant species in the samples. Golofa tepaneneca Morón is confirmed as an endemic species for these mountains. Sisyphus submonticolus Howden and Euoniticellus intermedius Reiche are cited for the first time in the State of Puebla. The scarab beetle fauna of Tentzo area shows equilíbrate similarity with the Puebla valley (27%) and the Balsas river upper slopes (21 %), while the similarity with the Gulf of México slopes is much lower (8 %). |

Se presenta un estudio preliminar sobre las especies de Coleóptera Melolonthidae, Scarabaeidae y Trogidae establecidas a 2,000-2,350 m de altitud, en un ambiente de transición entre encinares poco húmedos, matorrales xerófilos y bosque tropical caducifolio bajo, característico de la Sierra del Tentzo, Puebla. Durante doce eventos de recolecta diurnos y nocturnos, se obtuvo una muestra formada por 3,568 ejemplares adultos que representan a 49 especies de los géneros Phytlophaga, Diplotaxis, Anómala, Ligyrus, Golofa, Strategus, Xyloryctes, Euphoria, Canthon, Sisyphus, Phanaeus, Coprophanaeus, Dichotomius, Onthophagus, Euoniticellus, Ochodaeus, Aphodius, Ataenius y Trox. La mayor diversidad específica correspondió a Phyllophaga, representado por 12 especies, entre las que predomina ampliamente Ph. ravida (Blanch.). La única especie endémica es Golofa tepaneneca Morón. Sisyphus submonticolus Howden y Euoniticellus intermedius Reiche se citan por primera vez para el estado de Puebla. La baja diversidad de Scarabaeoidea de la región corresponde con las condiciones de aridez de la región, y su fauna muestra una similitud equilibrada con el valle de Puebla (27%) y la vertiente alta del Balsas (21 %), y una similitud escasa con la vertiente del Golfo de México (8 %).
