Sumari: | Honduranillus balli: new genus and species of Anillini (Coleóptera, Caraboidea) from Honduras. A morphological description of Honduranillus balli gen. nov. and sp. nov. is presented. This is the first known Anillini (Coleóptera, Caraboídea, Trechidae) recorded from Honduras. It is a highly specialised carabid beetle, as suggested by its peculiar morphology: large size (3.0 mm), head prominent, pronotum clearly depressed on the discal area, elytra long and ship-shaped form, peculiar mouth-pants (mandibles with premolar tooth and retinacle, ligula with distinct paraglossae), two kinds of pubescence (long hairs on the head and pronotum and short on the elytra), charactenstic chaetotaxy (four labral setae, no discal setae on the elytra) and female genitalia: it is the oniy known Anillini with tubed and spiralled spermatheca. For all these reasons, Honduranillus gen. nov. cannot be easily related to otner known taxa of rhis tribe. According to elytral chaetotaxy. il should belong to the subtribe Scotodipnina Jeannel. Foilowinq this author (Jeannel, 1937, 1963), the new genus had to constitute a new phyietic line (phyletic series in the sense of Jeannel, 1963). The new genus is compared with other American genera and a biogeographic commentary is also mcluded.
